From drawing to Divine Art

« I’m really becoming aware that when I paint, I’m putting into matter something that is within me of the order of the impalpable, so that I can look at it and welcome it. Then what’s on the canvas becomes a healing energy that’s sent back to me.
So we move from one state to another. From matter to light. It’s wonderful to be able to make real what we can’t see or what doesn’t exist in our world… Dreams, emotions, beings from elsewhere. », Olivier Menu.

Olivier Menu
is a self-taught painter

He was born in Dunkerke in 1977.
He spent the first part of his life between Toulouse and Bordeaux. He studied in Bordeaux and developed a passion for visual art. At graphic design school, where he graduated in Visual Communication, he fell in love with painting.

In 2003, he went through a period of personal turmoil and decided to leave his home region and move to the Mediterranean. A new life that enabled him to get back on his feet. He then devoted himself totally to his painting and decided to make it his profession. He unearthed a series of nine canvases, entitled “Renaissance”, characterized by gaping red cracks and wounds.
From within these cracks emerges a new world, colorful, inhabited and symbolic.
A transmutation that invites questioning and spiritual openness.
He began exhibiting in art galleries in and around Montpellier. He also has a particular fondness for the Swiss Riviera, where he regularly exhibits between Lausanne and Montreux.

Olivier exhibited for ten years in galleries and at art fairs.
His technique can be summed up as follows: he likes to experiment.
He works on several series at the same time, alternating between acrylic and oil paint.
A single energy is conveyed in his works: the energy of Love. His paintings plunge us into a universe that is at once abstract and symbolic, dreamlike and spiritual, a call to love and unity. A world all his own, but one that speaks to us all, as if the emotions and messages he places on canvas were our own.

Now based in Rouvenac, in the Haute Vallée de l’Aude, his need to assert himself as a visionary researcher takes root in his studio.
Keen to make art accessible to as many people as possible, Olivier offers direct sales in his studio. It’s by being in the intimacy of his work, at home, that he is able to reconnect with visitors in a simple, authentic exchange.

Much better than words, I invite you to discover his work.

The workshop

An artist’s studio has that extra soul that galleries just don’t have.
When an artist invites you into his or her studio, you lose all sense of time and find yourself in an unfamiliar space that invites you on a journey of the mind.
In Olivier’s studio, the energy emanating from his works and the space is palpable, sometimes to the point of dizziness.
He invites you to come and meet him, to talk, discover, feel and even buy one of his works.
Between originals in various formats and reproductions, there’s something for every budget.
